United Church of Two Harbors

Another successful year of trick or treating for UNICEF and the placement of the familiar orange boxes in the church pews brought a donation of $577.37 to benefit children around the world. This year, Kimberly Clark matched our contributions, which made for a grand total of $1,154.74. After door to door collections, the children returned to the church for hot chocolate, games and cookie decorating. Thanks to all members of the congregation and our hard working volunteers.

We “TOOK THE PLUNGE” into worship, courage, faith, service and obedience with 25 children and many adult volunteers on July 31st and August 1st and 2nd.

Tuesday found us listening to a story about fishermen who obeyed Jesus and caught many fish (Luke 5:1-10). Also, we were caught in a horrible storm and Jesus told us to not be afraid and have courage. He then calmed the seas (Matthew 8:23-27).

Wednesday brought us to the lakeshore where we met Peter who shared a story of how Jesus washed the feet of the disciples (John 13:14). We painted our feet, walked the path with Jesus and washed each others feet. We were also visited by a Samarian woman at the well (John 4:5-30) who shared how Jesus had met her at the well and how she was sure that He was the savior.

On Thursday, August 2nd, Peter visited and shared an amazing story of how Jesus walked on water (Matthew 14: 22-23). The rest of our time was spent in the pool at the AmericInn.

Today our children lead worship with a play remembering Jesus' Triumphant entry into Jerusalem. They also lead in singing "On a Donkey" (remembering that story to the tune of "She'll Be Coming 'round the Mountain") and "Lord I Lift Your Name on High."
