Spring Luncheon

The United Church Women hosted their Annual Spring Luncheon this past Friday, May 2, and had a tribute to the wit of Carol and Carol. We celebrated the life and humor of our beloved Carol Bark with the works of Carol Burnett as interpreted by the United Church Players. Here are some photos.

Click on the pictures to see an enlarged version. Many thanks to all who participated and to David Glass for the photos.

Vacation Bible School 2007

We “TOOK THE PLUNGE” into worship, courage, faith, service and obedience with 25 children and many adult volunteers on July 31st and August 1st and 2nd.

Tuesday found us listening to a story about fishermen who obeyed Jesus and caught many fish (Luke 5:1-10). Also, we were caught in a horrible storm and Jesus told us to not be afraid and have courage. He then calmed the seas (Matthew 8:23-27).

Wednesday brought us to the lakeshore where we met Peter who shared a story of how Jesus washed the feet of the disciples (John 13:14). We painted our feet, walked the path with Jesus and washed each others feet. We were also visited by a Samarian woman at the well (John 4:5-30) who shared how Jesus had met her at the well and how she was sure that He was the savior.

On Thursday, August 2nd, Peter visited and shared an amazing story of how Jesus walked on water (Matthew 14: 22-23). The rest of our time was spent in the pool at the AmericInn.

Songs & Stories

polyphony.jpg"He who sings, prays twice." - St. Augustine

Wednesdays in Lent we will be gathering with Emmanuel, Bethlehem, and Knife River Lutheran churches for evening worship. This year we are structuring our theme around favorite hymns. Each week we will take one hymn and not only sing it, but explore its history, its meaning, and its Biblical roots.

So, what hymns would you like us to explore? We're taking suggestions. Leave a comment, drop me an e-mail, or leave a note in my box at church.

Winter Break Brunch

Winter Break Brunch for Returning College Students

So, you're home. Christmas is over. You still have a week or more until you have to go back to school. Your parents and siblings have not yet quite succeeded in driving you crazy but they are trying - really hard. What are you to do? Go have brunch, of course!

Pastor Lawrence extends an invitation to his Fourth Annual Give a College Student a Decent Brunch program. And by decent, he means something he did not prepare. Gather at United at 10 am on Wednesday, December 27th and we will go someplace from there. Better still, it's FREE! Who said there was no such thing as a free brunch?
